Stevens Rail Trail – Warner Exit 7 Davisville to Hopkinton

In Warner, park to the right of the trail gate alongside Old Warner Road in Davisville. In Hopkinton, park to the right of the Hopkinton library by the kiosk and walk/ride along the back access road to the intersection of Spring Street and Krzyzaniak Lane. Cross the road here and you will see orange trail gate. In 2024 an extension from the library to Kearsarge Ave in Contoocook village opened.

Warner Rail Trail at Bagley Field in Warner, NH

This section of trail was extended by a half a mile to the west and now brings you to another view of the Warner River.

Concord, NH Fisherville Road to Carter Hill Road

The parking area at 25 Fisherville Rd, Concord, NH is now open. You will find parking for 7 vehicles, a bicycle fix station with pump, and a kiosk with trail information. This section of trail was built over a 6 year stretch with the first segment opening in March of 2020 just as COVID hit. The final (orange) segment constructed in the first half of 2025.

$50,000 Matching Grant Challenge – You did it!

In 2019 we were challenged to raise $50,000 that would be matched by a donor advised fund of the NH Charitable Foundation. Together we did it!

You Have Our Trust Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation has offered us a challenge grant where they will donate $50,000 to CLSRT if we can raise $50,000 from other sources by December 31, 2019.

Meeting that challenge enabled us to have the funds to complete finishing touches on the Stevens Rail Trail in Contoocook & Warner and complete the parking area and a half mile of trail in Concord that opened spring of 2020.

Thank you to everyone who got us over the top. Thank you also to You Have Our Trust for supporting the vision of the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail and challenging us to reach new heights.

Our first Concord Project – 2.5 miles between Fisherville Rd and Carter Hill Rd.

Help build the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail this Saturday the 28th of September 2019. We will be cutting brush and branches in preparation for grading work that will follow. Its fun to be a part of the transformation of this land into rail trail. We are gathering in the field just south of 33 Fisherville Rd, Concord, NH 03301. Use LAD Welding as a landmark. Park in the field. We will have a crew ready to point you in the right direction starting at 8:30 AM. Arrive when you can and stay only as long as you like. Bring gloves and the brush cutting tool(s) of your choice: Loppers, limbing saw, chain saw, pole saw. We will be providing pizza for the crew for lunch. Have questions? Send email to info@clsrt.org

Enjoy our new benches overlooking Lake Todd in Bradford

Two railcar wheel-based benches have been set alongside the trail in the Lake Todd area. Wheels from the Conway Scenic Railroad were media blasted by Jeremiah Johnson from Bear Blasting and painted by Fred Nystrom and Andrew Blagden. Seat brackets were welded by Jason Allen at Merrimack County Customs, who then delivered the bench frames to the site with an escort from the Bradford police department. CLSRT board members provided materials and did the final assembly June 5th.

The bench closest to the bridge will be dedicated as a memorial to Robert Saturley, whose friends and family contributed generous donations for this portion of the trail.

We expect the trail surface to be installed in this area over the next couple weeks.

Adjust your bike on the trail with CLSRT’s new bike fixit stations

Bike repair stations are springing up along the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail. CLSRT nearly doubled the number of repair stations in the state of NH by aquiring 5 of the self-contained fixit stands. Each solid bike stand has a variety of built in tools and QR code stamp to access instructions on fixing the most common issues with bicycles.

Today we installed 4 stands along the trail. One in Bradford by the Appleseed Restaurant and Catering,one at Schoodacs and another at Bagley Field in Warner. The fourth fix station is at the Contoocook Riverway Association in Contoocook. The fifth bike Fix Station is now available for use at the trail head parking area at 25 Fisherville Rd in Concord, NH.

    “Good Morning, Snowplow” story walk on the Warner Rail Trail

    It’s the perfect time of the season for a snowshoe, ski or walk along the river in Warner while reading the recently released “Good Morning, Snowplow” picture book by local author Deborah Bruss. The vivid illustrations and rhythmic verse are a colorful addition to the beauty of the snow-covered trail.

    Hopkinton connector open for Winter use

    The improved trail from exit 7 in Davisville now connects to the end of the Stevens Rail Trail, providing 2 miles of uninterrupted winter riding or skiing. Due to early snows, the trail is set for winter use, but the surface will need to be modified and final hard pack applied after the spring thaw.

    Bridge over Lake Todd open for winter use

    Over several weekends, a crew of volunteers from the Lake Sunapee Snowmobile Club, Rural Heritage Connection of Bradford, and CLSRT built a pedestrian bridge over Lake Todd to increase safety and provide walking options from the Tilly Wheeler trail to the Appleseed Restaurant in Bradford. The bridge will be dedicated in Memory of Robert Saturley.

    Friends of the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail will be at the Warner Fall Foliage Festival Oct 6-7 2018.  Our booth will be on Schoodacs Coffee & Tea’s front lawn, right in the middle of the action.  Come learn about the trail and the many ways you can help this trail grow.  Soon you will be able to walk on new sections in Bradford and Contoocook.  We are working to bring over two miles of trail to Concord in 2019 along with additional projects.
